School Caretaker and Grounds Officer
Salary Grade 4 – Scp 8-10 (£22,779 - £23,607 FTE)
Hours: 32.5 per week 52 weeks per year.
Monday – Friday 6:30 am – 1:30 pm (includes 30 mins unpaid break)
Forestdale is a successful and popular two form entry primary school located in a residential area of South Croydon, with superb outside facilities and good transport links nearby. Forestdale has a reputation for high standards and a sense of community. We are looking for a considerate, versatile, hard working, enthusiastic and reliable person; who is self motivated and able to use their own initiative in order to carry out a range of duties which will ensure a safe, clean and stimulating environment for children, staff and parents.
You will be responsible for site security, daily opening of the site and occasional closing, undertaking repairs, maintenance work and improvements, identifying and responding to any health and safety issues, monitoring services, systems and implementing the school’s planned maintenance program, setting up for school events, cleaning, grounds maintenance and such other duties that may arise from use of the premises. The post also requires the ability to carry out a range of administrative tasks, including stocking, ordering and supervision of contract cleaners. As a Key Holder you will be an emergency contact for the school (being on call as part of the job). Occasional weekend or evening work, overseeing lettings or contractors, usually with notice.
We would love to hear from you if you:
- Are an experienced caretaker
- Have competent basic DIY skills
- Are knowledgeable regarding premises maintenance and Health & Safety
- Are familiar with using basic IT applications including email, excel, word and the Internet.
- Are a good communicator, both verbally and in writing.
- Willing to undertake further training.
- Have read the job description and person specification and feel you are well suited to this role.
The annual leave year extends from 1st April – 31st March. (Holidays to be agreed in advance with the Head Teacher)

Relief Lunchtime Supervisors
We are looking for Relief Lunchtime Supervisors to join our dedicated and happy team of supervisors, to cover staff absence and special events.
The pay is Grade 1c, scale point 9-11 - £19,755-£19896 p.a. pro rata for part-time, term time only. This is equivalent to £9 per hour. The hours are Monday to Friday (five days per week) from 12.05 p.m. to 1.20 p.m.
